In Their Words: Parrish Clark

The Training at This Year's Leadership Conference will be Unmatched

Leadership GBA will host its annual Leadership Conference July 20-23 at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club in Ponte Vedra, FL. Parrish Clark, executive vice president, Guardian Bank, Valdosta, and Leadership GBA Executive Committee President-Elect recently shared his thoughts about the conference with us:

"I've been active in Leadership GBA since 2009. Leadership GBA provides a regular opportunity to network and learn from my peers, which has been valuable in my professional development and the contributions I am able to make to the bank. The Leadership Conference is a fantastic opportunity to meet bankers from across the state, share ideas and experiences, and build relationships that you can call upon over your career. Plus, the program is built to provide real-time data and proven ideas from industry experts that you can share with your co-workers and utilize in your bank immediately. I often seek the advice of bankers I have met through Leadership GBA, and I frequently look over my notes from the conference for new ideas or a fresh perspective. Leadership GBA and the Leadership Conference will benefit both you and your bank, and the venue at Ponte Vedra is incredible. I look forward to seeing you and your family there."

You can register for the Leadership Conference online here. With questions about the conference or Leadership GBA in general, please contact GBA's Susie McGehee at 404.420.2010.

Tips for Improving Your Efficiency Ratio - July 9

Join Adam Craig of Deluxe with co-presenter Dennis Zember of Ameris Bank, Moultrie, July 9 from 10-11 a.m. to learn how to shrink your efficiency ratio through a holistic approach of trimming excess and maximizing value. Efficiency ratios are like golf scores - the lower the better. Although you've cut costs, adopted technology, and tried your best to maximize income, average efficiency ratios for banks are still between 70 and 80. While these numbers would be good for an amateur golfer, they aren't ideal for long-term success in banking. If you're interested in moving your efficiency ratio back into a more desirable range, you will receive some practical, applicable ideas during this session to use. Topics to be covered include:

  • How process improvement helps you enhance customer value, generate income, and reduce waste

  • Focus on maximizing value and reducing waste across the entire organization, not just at isolated points

  • Five areas that are ripe for process improvement right now

  • New technologies and trends that community banks are investigating.
