"Our Leadership GBA Executive Committee represents the best and brightest for our industry's future. GBA Joins Push to Block CFPB Arbitration Rule

We signed on to a letter late last week with state bankers associations from all 50 states urging the Senate to use its powers to block the CFPB's new rule that limits mandatory arbitration agreements. Congress has authority under the Congressional Review Act to reject new federal regulations within 60 legislative days of publication in the Federal Register. In our letter we point out that the rule "would create a windfall for unscrupulous class-action attorneys, provide little or no relief to harmed consumers, and effectively eliminate an accessible alternative to the often-daunting judicial system." GBA 125 Facts

New Century Brought a time of Prosperity

The early 1900s were a prosperous time for the state and a period of growth for the GBA. From 1900 to 1901, the number of banks in Georgia increased 15 percent. From 1900 to 1910, GBA membership grew to 441 banks. "The waters of prosperity, so long confined in the Middle and New England states, checked by that invisible dam along the Mason and Dixon line, have at last been drawn southward, said Robert F. Maddox, leader of Maddox-Rucker Banking Company in Atlanta, and later a mayor of Atlanta.

Please respond with your bank making a contribution to the StatePAC and eligible employees and directors making personal contributions to the FedPAC. Eligibility and suggested contributions are included on the contribution forms. This important endeavor enables the GBA to be at the table with policy makers on the state and federal level representing your interests and concerns.
