CEO Alert

Keep Responses Flowing for CFPB Small Business Data Comment Letter

We’re working on a comment letter to the CFPB for its request for information about small business lending data as it looks to implement a Dodd-Frank mandate requiring such data collection. Earlier this week we sent a survey to member bank CEOs asking for input about the bureau’s proposal that will help us with the letter. We realize that the questions require some detailed input, but we need data gathered from bankers to inform the positions we will take in our comment letter. If you have not had the chance to weigh in, please refer back to the May 30 email from Joe Brannen for a link to the survey. The subject line is “Please help us with an important request from CFPB.” With questions, contact Joe Brannen, 404.420.2026, or Jonathan Hightower, GBA General Counsel.

Fountain’s Path to Banking a Little Different

Heath Fountain got into banking through his early career as a CPA doing audits for banks. That eventually led to becoming a financial advisor at the bank, and now he’s president and CEO of Planters First Bank in Cordele. If that doesn’t pan out for him, maybe he can fall back on a handyman business. “I really like building things. I enjoy working with my hands and I am a decent carpenter, plumber and electrician,” he says in this week’s GBA member profile when asked what people may not know about him. Fountain is also GBA’s Group 3 board member. Learn more about Fountain here…
