Tri-Conferences Start Sunday

GBA member bank presidents, CEOs, attorneys and accountants will convene Sunday evening for their annual conferences. The concurrent conferences will provide the latest updates about the economy, the real estate market, bank strategy ideas, fraud detection and prevention, legal issues, bank accounting and more. "There's so much value for these groups to come together each year for these conferences. We're all looking forward to the great ideas we'll share and the networking with our peers," said Philip Williams, president and CEO, The Claxton Bank, who chairs the Community Bankers Committee that sponsors the President and CEO Conference. Regulators Signal Focus on Fair Lending, Mortgage Servicing

"Unintentional" discrimination, redlining, mortgage modifications and other servicing issues are areas of regulatory focus for the Department of Justice, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, said regulators at a panel discussion last week. An American Banker article outlined the areas of focus mentioned by representatives from those agencies. Georgia Suspects with Stolen Card Numbers Arrested in Idaho

Police in Boise, Idaho, this week busted 12 suspects from Georgia who were trying to buy gift cards using stolen credit card numbers linked to one or more major security breaches, according to police. Read more about the card crooks' apprehension here...

October is cybersecurity awareness month and there's a great resource for bank CEOs from the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS).
